VOTE BY MAIL

You can download an application for voting by mail here. Completed applications must be returned to the City Clerk’s Office at 14 Court Sq. You must file a new application even if you have done so in previous years.

ABSENTEE VOTING

Applications for absentee ballots must be filed with the City Clerk no later than noon on Wednesday, November 1 (the fourth business day before the election). Similar to voting by mail, you must fill out a new application even if you have done so in previous years.

There are specific requirements for absentee voting. You can vote by absentee ballot if:

  • You will be away from your city or town on Election Day.

  • You have a religious belief that prevents you from voting at your polling location on Election Day.

  • You have a disability that prevents you from voting at your polling location.

  • You are currently incarcerated for a reason other than a felony conviction.

To receive an absentee ballot, you will need to submit a absentee application to the Greenfield City Clerk’s Office:

  • By mail

  • By email

  • By fax

Absentee ballot applications can be downloaded here, or you can submit any written request with your signature, such as sending a letter with your request to the Greenfield Clerk's Office. Applications can be submitted by mail, email, or fax, and they must include a signature that can be compared to your hand-written signature. Electronic signatures, scanned applications, and photos of applications are acceptable.

Typed signatures on applications cannot be accepted, unless you are a voter who requires accommodations due to physical disability. If you are unable to sign your application or mark your ballot by hand due to a disability, contact the Election Division of the MA Secretary of State’s Office for information on requesting an accommodation.

For further information or to request an application for an absentee ballot, call the City Clerk's Office at 413-772-1555, ext. 6162 or email cityclerk@greenfield-ma.gov.
